It has been nearly a month since my last post on this site. To all of those who were following my posts I hope to be able to reach out to you once more to follow my own progress. It has been one interesting month as school has started and now I am in my 5th week in the Spring Quarter. My most challenging class being math as usual but I found out that if you practice and teach your math it becomes a second language rather quickly. I am also in another class in which I summarize chapters on the fundamental principles of management. This seems to be quite the interesting class, I enjoy it quite a lot due to the fact that management has always been one of my strong suits.
I recently got addicted to creating web applications and publishing them on the web. I discovered that one can create a domain name though it isn’t a commercial domain name but rather a free domain name to register their site as well as free hosting options that are rather good for being free. Websites generally don’t end up taking a ton of space but I have compiled a list of a lot of them over the course of my past two days of researching.
I have recently started working on the development of my portfolio website. I almost have it complete I just need to fix the CSS on one page and the rest will be simply filling in the blanks with my skills and skillsets. I also need to start publishing my works on this portfolio site as well. I will begin developing across a multitude of web development platforms. I plan on developing simple portfolio sites such as my own with using simply HTML5 and CSS3. These two web languages really come in handy when developing a website. I plan on creating blogs in the following languages, node.js, angular.js, RoR (Ruby on Rails), ASP.Net, PHP. I plan on seeing the differences in quality in each of these languages on the web platform to see how my websites can perform.
I have came into acquisition of over 35 domain names in the past two days as well as three new web servers. Using applications such as putty and FileZilla this makes my job a lot easier with the management of all these resources. I plan on publishing a private website though to manage the amount of documentation it will take to accomplish all these topics.
I also repaired a Gateway FX gaming laptop. The performance on this laptop is pretty good considering the condition that it is currently in. I am researching whether or not it is possible to upgrade the processor on this laptop to a quad core Intel processor. After researching the laptop and some forums I discovered that it may not be in my best interest to upgrade the processor since it will barely be a notable addition. Still though it runs Windows 7 x32 pretty well for a system that is this old. Plays most games pretty well, runs into memory leak errors such as the blue screen of death on occasion. I believe this is due to it being a x32 system and having only 4 GB of ram. My main laptop has 8GB of RAM and an Intel Core i3 Processor. Huge difference in performance and running a x64 system as well. Though this makes for a decent secondary laptop. It can handle most games due to it having a Geforce 9800M GTS graphics card in it with 1GB of GDDR3 RAM inside of it. So I can play most mmorpgs and games before 2008 essentially. Which is nice my main laptop only has 512MB of GDDR5 the difference in performance is there but it’s not huge for someone like myself.
The 17 inch screen is a nice addition to this laptop. I am fairly confident that this laptop can handle all my performance needs in the coming years. It still has a few miles left on it and if Windows 7 can’t handle this system then I will simply switch over to a Linux distro most likely being that of elementaryOS or even Mac OS X. I have heard that you can install Mac OS X on this laptop and if that is at all possible I have a second hard drive that can hold the data for Mac OS X but we will see what I can do about that on a later day.
